Ryan Tannehill and the Miami Dolphins fulfilled their destiny
The Miami Dolphins selected Ryan Tannehill eighth overall in the 2012 NFL draft, praying that he would be the one.
Miami was unfortunately placed in the same division as the New England Patriots, a juggernaut that could not be beaten. No matter what the Dolphins did, it always felt that their effort was going to be in vain. Their ceiling was always going to be second-best in the division as they were caught in the most successful dynasty in all of American sports.
Tannehill was selected to be the one to finally take the dynasty down. To steal the throne away from Tom Brady in the division. The answer to the seemingly endless struggle the Dolphins were stuck in.
The Texas A&M product struggled in South Beach. He had a combined 42–46 record as a starter over his seven years with the team that drafted him. 2016 was his only winning season, and he missed out on his chance to play in the playoffs with a knee injury. He lost the entirety of his 2017 season due to injury, and he was one of the worst quarterbacks in the league in 2018 after his return.
Miami dealt him to the Tennessee Titans in the 2019 offseason, effectively ending any hope the quarterback had to make it as a franchise quarterback in the NFL. He was sent to back up Marcus Mariota in Nashville, and was decidedly determined to not be the one that would end the Patriots dynasty.
